Question: How much does a website cost? (Or “If We Were a Car Lot”.)

Answer:

Think about the question “What does a car cost?” You can look for old beaters from the “Buy-Here, Pay-Here” or you can fight off the salesman at your local Lexus Dealer. We reside somewhere in a comfy medium between these opposites.

Cash for Clunkers? At the cheaper end of the scale you have template based web sites. These are not custom created designs. Instead they are purchased from a template store and customized to fit a client’s needs. (Logo, photography, content, minor cosmetic adjustments, etc.) This will do in a pinch if you’re on a budget, but in many cases you sacrifice quality, features and flexibility.

All the Options! The time that goes into creating a truly great website can tally into the hundreds, possibly even thousands of hours. If you need a dealer locator to keep supply in touch with demand, a company calendar to keep your employees on schedule, a password protected interface that allows your customers to share and analyze data from across the globe in real time AND you need the perfect logo… Obviously, you’re going to spend a bit more.

Everything In Between… Truth be told, we can customize a solution for just about any budget, with a minimum of about $500 for a simple brochure site, up to five figures at the top end. That’s why it’s important that we understand your needs and budget requirements up front. The easiest way to find out what your website will cost is to contact us for a quote.

Question: Are there hidden costs?

Answer:

No. We will line item every detail in the proposal so there are no surprises. The price will never change unless the scope of the project changes and a new agreement is created.

Question: How long does a website take to create?

Answer:

That depends on the size of the site in question and our current workload. Please contact us for more information.

Question: What is “Hosting” and why do I need it?

Answer:

A “host” is a physical server computer that stores your website and gives it to people when they ask for it. (IE: when they type in www.yourdomain.com) Without hosting, you have no website.

Question: What is a “Domain Name”?

Answer:

A domain name is a website address that points to your websites files. For example, www.bluegrassinternet.com is a domain name.

Question: How do I get a “Domain Name”?

Answer:

Domain names are purchased through “Registrars” which are accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). There are many domain name registrars to choose from including GoDaddy, Register.com and Network Solutions.

Question: How do I get an email address like MyName@MyWebsite.com?

Answer:

All of our hosting plans come with hosted e-mail too! You can send and receive from any internet connected computer with web-mail or use Outlook, your iPhone, any other e-mail client

Question: Can I see how many visitors my website is getting?

Answer:

Yes! The amount of information that can be gathered about your visitors is astounding! Geo-location, keyword tracking, advanced filtering, IP tracking, trending and more… We generally install Google Analytics (a free tracking package) with new developments depending on your needs.

Question: Will people be able to find me on Google and other search engines?

Answer:

YES! We build websites to meet the published standards for achieving good rankings in search engines. Most of our sites perform exceptionally well without any additional Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Question: What is a CMS?

Answer:

A CMS is a Content Management System. Some are open source, some are proprietary but they all have the same goal; To give you control of your website’s content. A CMS allows your staff to add and edit pages, pictures, etc. using a standard text editor from any modern web browser. (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.) In the past you might have sent updates to your “web guy” and waited 3 weeks until it was posted. A CMS alleviates this information bottleneck.
